The inspiration for most of his work is nature. He is particularly interested in the spiritual meaning of nature. Chris states this about his art: “In reducing the complexity of natural forms, and recreating them I can gain a better under-standing of their meaning. I exclude details that are irrelevant or distracting. In my most recent work I have been focusing on simple natural forms, such as fish. I purposely leave out details such as side and dorsal fins, or markings because I do not want the type of fish to have influence to the overall meaning of the work. I want the fish to be seen as natural forms primarily. They are given meaning by their behavior, for example as a school of fish. Christopher works and creates primarily in oil paints, which to him, is among the most versatile materials. He has no specific technique in my mind when working on a painting”.
